While browsing all the anti-Sony sentiments over the “revised” PAL PlayStation 3 I found this YouTube movie that sort of sums it up pretty well from GamerCastNetwork.com guys who are big XBox 360 fans.
Surprisingly good singing!
Obviously from an American point of view. I don’t think these guys appreciate how strong Sony is in Europe; and in Japan at least compared to the Xbox360.
I can see next gen going either way. Similar arguments were given for the Playstation2, and what did they amount to? The Dreamcast had better games and online capabilities, the graphics were on par, and who really wanted DVD playback? In the end, PS2 came out on top.
On the other hand, Sega didn’t have deep pockets, and DVD was a much bigger leap over VHS than BluRay will be over DVD. I still don’t think it’s the end for Sony though. Non-gamers still seem to use the terms “Playstation” for all consoles and “Gameboy” for all handhelds.
I personally don’t think Sony has handled the roll out of the PS3 very well for Europe. We’ll have to see how it is going end of this year or early next year, at the moment there’s no compelling games right now.
Atcually the 360 and Wii have mauled the PS3 with launch numbers in ten days, the Wii got over 42 thousand, the 360 around 36 thousand and the PS3 got around 27 thousand.
But the revenue for the PS3 is muhc higher, those numbers got them more than 27 million dollars.
So Sony is put down yet.
I’m from England. I own a 360, as do most of my friends.
i only even know OF 1 person who owns a PS3, and i dont even know him personally. A friend of a friend so to speak.
the PS3 was recieved as badly in Europe (well, England anyway) as it was in the USA. However, i will say that because nobody owns one everybody seems eager to play on one. I think the issue here is more the price than anything else.
I’m spending most of my time running GNU/Linux on it at the moment. Needs more games, however the recent 1.8 firmware update is pretty impressive, makes PS2 games look a lot nicer. IMHO should have held off the release maybe another year to let the XBox 360 “cool” while getting everything in place for a great release.
For once I think I can have a say, having all 3 current systems (Wii, PS3 and Xbox360) here in Australia, and all have their pros and cons. Also have PS2, PS1, DC, GC, N64, SNES, Saturn and a few others.
The Wii is great fun, but after a while you just want a game that you don’t have to dance around for. The PS3 lives up to the hype, whisper quiet, great graphics, and being piano black is a fingerprint magnet. The Xbox has great games, but sounds like a Dyson, and the adaptor is a brick.
Remember the PS3 has Blu-Ray out of the box, and is faster to load than stand alone players that cost nearly as much, and if you have a big screen, the results are fantastic. In Australia, add another AUD$250 to a 360 for the HD-DVD add-on, and it is suddenly quite expensive, plus noisy.
I found the Wii is pretty interesting (it’s good fun for party games etc) but quite stressful on the shoulder and arms to keep the Wiimote in the air, so if you’re planning on single player Wii I suspect it’s probably not a good idea.
I recently managed to play a few more games on the Wii and some get downright frustrating when you can’t quite get the Wiimote to move in the right way or you’re just plain under or overcompensating and missing by a mile in some games. Admittedly the learning curve isn’t as bad as other controllers (Dual Strike and SpaceOrb, anyone?) but does take a bit to get used to.
Right now the XBox 360 has the most mature “standard” games and is doing well on that front. The PS3 has better media facilities so I expect it to do well on the media center front over the next year or so while the games get up to scratch (which will take a year anyhow).
so true, i use to call myself a sony purest, but after ps3 was released i said “FUCK SONY. microsoft is better anyways” but dont get me wrong, the psp and the ps2 rocks. but i will always love halo 1, 2, 3

Actually I am from Europe and i thought this song was great and a lot of my European friends think so too. I hate the play station 3.
