It has been claimed that La Trobe University is indulging in bias and discrimination by providing exclusive Muslim only male and female bathrooms for religious reasons. Australian Family Council spokesperson Bill Muehlenberg claims that concerns over this development are valid, claiming that Christians and Atheists don’t get their own bathroom and that having a Muslim only bathroom is divisive and runs contrary to Muslim claims they wish to integrate cleanly into Australian society.

Apparently, Muslims need to wash their feet (and other parts of their body) before prayer and this was drawing complaints from other people seeing them wash their feet in the sink. Personally, I think some sort of washing facility merged into the existing bathrooms would be a suitable compromise (and would probably be used by non-Muslims as well depending on the situation).
