Tsukihime… in English!

Finally Mirror Moon has finished their long anticipated translation of the famous doujin game Tsukihime. For people who don’t know, Tsukihime is a simple multi-choice graphical novel type game that took Japan by storm when it was released in 2001 (basically, graphics with bucketloads of text telling a story). The basic story outline is that the main character Shiki (a high school student) accidentally kills off the vampire Arcueid after succumbing to a mysterious killer impulse. After Arcueid revives, she manages to enlists Shiki to help her defeat her enemies using his “Mystic Eyes of Death Perception” - which give him the ability to kill literally anything and everything. However, the storyline gets quite complex due to the routes to the different endings, so there’s a lot to discover and enjoy if you like complex storylines.

Anyhow, Mirror Moon is here and another good resource about the game is The Moonlit World which has details about Tsukihime, Kagetsu Touya, Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. There’s other sites that detail Melty Blood for the PC and PS2, I’ll probably write up about that later…

The only shame is that the only way you’re likely to play Tsukihime is to download an illegal copy. Last time I checked, obtaining a legal copy of Tsukihime was up there with getting Radiant Silvergun or Panzer Dragoon Saga - expect to spend $200 to $300 US to get Tsuki-Bako (which includes Tsukihime) and having to specially import from Japan - assuming you can find a copy either via auction or by someone selling theirs.
